Don?t think oral health is that important? Guess again?

If your home oral health routine is lacking in consistency and proper technique, you could be setting yourself up for illness and infection of not just your teeth and periodontal tissue (gums), but also in the rest of your body!

That is why at Image Dental in Applecross we have developed a list comprising of five reasons why you should brush and floss your teeth every day.

Periodontal disease is a major contributor to tooth loss and decay in Australia. It has been found that the bacterium that causes tooth decay has also been linked to a myriad of other health problems in the body!

2. Protect the heart

Mature-aged adults who maintain thorough dental regimes have been found to have a lower heart attack risk than people who follow a less comprehensive oral health practise, according to a recent study.

It has been found that receiving constant dental upkeep by a dentist can lower your risk of stroke! Not a bad reason to get brushing!

A study done in 2011 that was published in the Journal of Periodontology proved that oral infections such as periodontal disease can heighten the risk of respiratory disease such as pneumonia! Bacteria which cause periodontal disease can be inhaled by tiny droplets into the lungs and multiply to cause these respiratory issues.
